Lining up my mibs

It has been an exciting month. My editing business is keeping me busy. I loved editing during my time working in-house for a small publisher, so it was my pleasure, when the demand grew and I felt my skill was sufficient, to move on (my thanks to author friends who made this possible—you know who you are).

I’m still getting started, but it is exciting to push the edge of my skill and pour my passion into the flip side of writing which I love as much the act of creating itself; sharpening my editing skill through working for others inspires me to approach my own work in new ways, and vice versa. It is wonderful to move from part-time to full-time editor, to leave behind my old work which was not at all related to writing.

Better yet: my new desk is coming together. Twenty years of meticulous world-building notes are finding new homes and I’m devising a system to keep it in order during my current work in progress. (This system was a “mental work in progress” during the two years I spent writing my last manuscript.) I will be sure to share a picture when it is ready.

Somewhere in this process, I will get the material together that my web designer has requested, though I suspect it will be some time—there will be a wait, but I promise you it will be worth it (I like to come out swinging).

Now, fellow mibsters, back to strategy.
